Hiking & Fishing. Fishing & Hiking.

Yesterday was Memorial Day, meaning that this last weekend was one of the few 3 days weekends of the summer; we can’t help but take advantage of opportunities like that.  Bade’s sister, brother-in-law, and their daughter came with us on a Mid-Southern Utah road trip that ventured through summer weather, spring weather, and winter weather, at elevations ranging from 5,000-10,000 ft. The first night we camped at Fish Lake, made waffles over the fire in the morning, and listened to lots of geese honk as we got ready for the day.

The boys tried fishing while us girls froze our butts off.green lake boulder mountain panoramaOn Sunday we started our day fishing on Boulder Mountain at Oak Creek Reservoir.  There’s 4.5 miles of steep four-wheel drive road to get to Oak Creek, but once there, the views were really nice.

We couldn’t return home without one more fishing stop, so we pulled over in Spanish Fork Canyon where the Diamond Fork and Spanish Fork rivers meet. Us girls sat on the shore on a blanket in the sun, while the boys took to the water. spanish fork canyon riverWe thought our adventures were over, but when all the gauges in the car died at once, and our battery went from 14 volts down to nearly nothing, we knew that we had a little more trip to go.  We coasted into O’Reily’s, and Mike came to the rescue putting a new alternator into our truck before we parted ways.

Snowy Ride
